Dear Patients and Caregivers,

Since our inception, the goals of KCIW have been to set the standard in providing both a quality of life and quality of care to our patients along with our employees. We believe wholeheartedly in being a socially responsible and trusted partner in the pursuit of wellness for everyone. For that reason, we have been working to understand the risks that the coronavirus (COVID-19) poses for everyone and implementing infection prevention protocols to ensure continuity of care (CoC) for our patients while minimizing, specifically, exposure risk. We will be working diligently throughout this period to keep you informed of KCIW’s commitment to provide you with ongoing, consistent, and high quality care during this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Many of our patients are medically fragile, elderly or have conditions that make them more susceptible to viruses such as COVID-19. Your health and safety as well as that of our employees is of paramount importance to us. We must balance everyone’s safety with the need to stay open and provide you with the medicines you require. Part of that balance will be some active measures we are taking internally and some precautionary measures we are asking of our patients and caregivers. First and very importantly, our staff will be monitoring their health daily and will not come to the dispensary if they are showing any signs of illness. Those who are available to serve you will be actively working to keep themselves and the facility as safe and sanitary as possible. They will be disinfecting their hands and all frequently touched surfaces between each patient. We have also supplied non-latex gloves for their use. In turn, we are asking a few things from our patients and caregivers.

Limit your time inside the facility.

There are a few things you can do to expedite your transaction time:

  • Check our inventory prior to arriving and know what you’d like order (our online ordering is finally due to be back in place later this week).

  • Pre-order your medicine through FaceBook Messenger or by calling our helpful Patient Care Coordinators at (570) 218-4402. Pre-orders will be bagged and ready to pick up upon your arrival.

  • We are adopting a Skype consultation option with our pharmacists rather than a live consultation to expedite your time in the dispensary. Email info@keystoneciw.com if this is something you may want to do. You can also call our main number (570) 218-4402 to be put in contact with a pharmacist.

Use best practices for limiting risk of transmission.

You may be asked basic questions about your current health to help assess your personal risks upon entering the dispensary.

  • Wash your hand frequently and use hand sanitizer often. There will be hand sanitizer available throughout the dispensary for your use. We are asking that you use it prior to entering the waiting area;

  • Keep a safe distance between you, other patients and staff. Try to stay 3-6 feet away from other patients;

  • There is a mask shortage, but we will do our best to supply them.

  • If you are known to have traveled out of the country recently, experienced another source of personal exposure, or have one of the four major symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you not come into the dispensary. These are: Fever, shortness of breath, dry cough, severe diarrhea and vomiting. Instead, please contact your nearest health facility to be tested. Please reach out to our Patient Intake Coordinators at our main number, (570) 218-4402, and discuss the options for Caregivers. Finding and linking with a caregiver may be easier than you know and financial support for getting a caregiver card may be available.

  • Additionally, if you are a high-risk patient and do not want to risk exposure, please contact us via the main phone number (570) 218-4402 or email: info@keystoneciw.com. We will do our best to figure out what is possible for you to obtain your medicine.

And to limit your exposure outside of the dispensary:

  • Refrain from touching your face;

  • Practice social distancing;

  • Sanitize your cell phones and phones (they touch your face);

  • Don’t share devices and sanitize your own;

  • And (as it’s worth repeating) wash your hands frequently for no less than 30 seconds with hot soapy water.

This is a particularly virulent virus and the overall goal is to flatten the curve of exposure along with slowing down the rate of exposure in the early days of this pandemic as much as possible so that it’s manageable for our hospitals and other health resources. Education, adhering to public policy requests, and adopting rigorous best practices in hygiene will radically help to minimize everyone’s exposure and slow down the spread of the virus. If there is a situation we did not include, please reach out to us. We have access to resources through our community partnerships, that include trained social workers and nursing staff that are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We are humbly asking everyone’s patience and cooperation during this time. It is our goal to remain open as much as possible, and we are hoping that these minor requests will achieve just that. As your trusted dispensary, we will remain diligent and will do everything in our power to assure your health and safety and to keep our doors open to provide you with the medicines you require. As always, safe access to medical marijuana is our goal for our patients. Warmest Regards,

Your KCIW family
